Viya Continues Partnership With The VI Department Of Education For Virtual Learning

Viya, the leading telecommunications provider in the U.S. Virgin Islands, continues to provide contractual service to all Virgin Islands Department of Education Mi-Fi (personal mobile hotspots) accounts.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Virgin Islands Department of Education contracted with Viya for Mi-Fi devices. These devices were required, as per contract, to provide 75Gbps of bandwidth for students to attend school remotely and complete educational activities.
Viya has had no issues with the Department of Education related to payment and no account was disconnected. Further, it is against Viya’s business practices and policies for employees to discuss billing matters with individuals who are not authorized on the account. There are isolated cases of Mi-Fis losing the settings for various reasons and, as such, Viya is committed to resolving these issues, if and when they occur, as with any other service that is provided.

Parents and students who are experiencing technical difficulties, especially if a red light is persistently displayed on the device, can have this resolved by visiting the Customer Experience Centers at Estate Diamond in St. Croix, Tutu Park in St. Thomas and The Marketplace in St. John.

Classes Cancelled for STTJ District PreK – 3rd Grade Students on Oct. 22

ST. THOMAS, USVI – Classes for St. Thomas-St. John District students in PreK-3rd grade have been cancelled on Fri., Oct. 22 to accommodate a planned in-service day for teachers. Students in 4th-12th grades are not affected and will attend classes as normal. PreK-3rd grade students will resume classes on Mon., Oct. 25.
